Who We Are

Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) is a statewide, nonprofit law that provides free legal services in civil matters to low-income people in order to ensure equal access to justice and to remove legal barriers to economic opportunity.   The legal staff of Legal Aid of NC - Charlotte Office provides legal assistance in civil matters to eligible, low-income clients who have problems with their basic needs and live in Mecklenburg County.

Please note that Legal Aid of NC (LANC) does not provide legal assistance via E-mail. Rather, please telephone or come to the LANC office to request assistance.

When there is someone that we are able to assist and we need to be able to communicate with them, we will hire interpreters.

Income Guidelines

Eligibility is based on household size and income. You must also have a legal problem that falls within the guidelines of what we can assist clients with.

There are some limited exceptions. Please call the Legal Aid of North Carolina office in Charlotte to see if you are eligible for our services.

Your family's income should be at or below the following percentage of the federal poverty level 125
