Who We Are

Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) is a statewide, nonprofit law that provides free legal services in civil matters to low-income people in order to ensure equal access to justice and to remove legal barriers to economic opportunity.   The legal staff of Legal Aid of NC - Winston-Salem Office provides legal assistance in civil matters to eligible, low-income clients who have problems with their basic needs and live in the six-county area surrounding Winston-Salem, NC:    Davie County        Stokes County    Forsyth County      Surry County    Iredell County       Yadkin County   [Click MAP to LANC-Winston-Salem Office.] Please note that Legal Aid of NC (LANC) does not provide legal assistance via E-mail. Rather, please telephone or come to the LANC office to request assistance.

If a client has a need for an interpreter, we contact the respective agency which provides the interpreter. Then, the client, the interpreter, and the representing attorney all meet in our agency office location.

Income Guidelines

There are limited exceptions. Please call the Legal Aid of NC office in Winston-Salem to see if you are eligible for our services.
