Placement Change and Discipline

School authorities can change a placement of a child to an interim alternative educational setting (AES) when the child:
 

1. Has been suspended for less than 10 days as it is applicable to regular education students.
    
2. Is found possessing or using drugs at school or a school controlled function (45 days).
    
3. Is found in possession of a weapon, or carries a weapon to school or school function (45 days).
    

Hearing officers may order a change in placement for a child to an AES when a child is determined to be dangerous.
